Phil Hunsucker is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the firm.  For over 30 years, Phil has been a trial lawyer and counselor. Clients often have trusted Phil with their most challenging legal problems. During his years in practice, Phil has handled a number of cases for companies that were facing liabilities that could have bankrupted their business.

At Hunsucker Goodstein, Phil has been the lead lawyer primarily in environmental, toxic tort, and insurance coverage cases representing a wide range of clients.  Phil is consistently recognized as a top attorney, and from 2009 to 2016 was chosen by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyer.

As a trial lawyer, Phil has prepared and tried jury cases to conclusion in state and federal courts around the United States.

As a counselor, Phil focuses on planning and implementing strategies that resolve difficult problems, often finding ways to bring dollars from outside sources.  For over 10 years, he has served as general counsel to an environmental cleanup trust and landowner providing advice on a wide range of issues, including regulatory compliance, real estate transactions and purchasing liability and property insurance.

Before forming the firm in 1995, Phil worked as an associate and a partner at a national law firm representing clients in commercial, environmental and insurance cases.  Prior to that, he served his country in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, gaining considerable first-chair trial experience.
